Description
Communications Manager
The Home Performance Stakeholder Council (HPSC) is a BC-based not-for-profit that supports the growth of the home performance industry by advancing market growth, capacity building, and quality workmanship. We work with contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, associations, utilities, and other partners to help grow a stronger whole-home retrofit market across British Columbia.
We are looking for a strategic, detail-oriented Communications Manager who can both shape the message and do the work. This role is ideal for someone who can move comfortably between communications planning and hands-on execution—writing strong copy, managing content calendars, posting to digital channels, supporting campaigns, and helping HPSC communicate clearly and consistently with industry and stakeholders.
What you will do
- Lead and implement an integrated communications strategy aligned with HPSC’s priorities and annual workplan
- Develop strong core messaging, narratives, and positioning for stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and sector leadership
- Write, edit, and proofread high-quality content for social media, website pages, newsletters, email campaigns, briefing notes, talking points, and other collateral
- Manage HPSC’s day-to-day digital presence, including content scheduling, publishing, and coordination across channels
- Support campaigns, events, webinars, and stakeholder initiatives with practical communications plans, timelines, and materials
- Coordinate external vendors or contractors, such as designers or web support, as needed
- Track and report on communications performance, including engagement metrics, digital reach, SEO, and paid social results, and use those insights to improve future work
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in communications, public relations, content strategy, or a related field; relevant experience in lieu of education may be considered
- Exceptional, detail-oriented copywriting, editing, and proofreading skills
- Demonstrated experience developing communications plans and executing them directly
- Hands-on experience managing digital content, websites, email communications, and social media platforms
- Strong judgment, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- Comfort working in a stakeholder-driven, consensus-oriented environment
Preferred assets
- Experience in energy efficiency, sustainability, housing, climate, or public policy
- Experience with associations, nonprofits, or member-based organizations
- Experience with SEO, paid social campaigns, and analytics/reporting tools
- Basic graphic design skills using Canva or similar tools
